Cyclic Universal Clock

I'm thinking about a new representation of time. With the current time system, we refer to UTC time. I find this annoying, because it uses the same notions (hours and minutes) as the local time system. I find this ambiguous.

I'd like to use a different notation system for universal time. My first thought was to use a colored wheel with a 24-hour revolution (the length of a day - you can't escape it). The advantage of the wheel is that there's no beginning or end, and everyone could associate a time of day with a color. For example, in Europe, we'd usually have breakfast at "Red", while in America this color would correspond to sunrise. The current color being universal.

I see two problems with the use of colors:

- They're not very accessible

- Shades of color can be ambiguous.

So I'm looking for other symbols that don't represent a series with a beginning and an end. I'm thinking of the horoscope constellations, but they already have a time-related meaning (position of the sun in the constellation). What other type of symbol could be used to represent the hours of the day that wouldn't be a series with a beginning and an end?

Then there's the problem of days. When do we change day? If we keep the current dates, this means that a color is associated with the date change, and this breaks the cyclical notion of this new time notation system :-(
